Like many parents-to-be, I didn’t plan properly for life after my baby arrived. I did all the usual things—had a baby shower, built a registry, bought everything I thought we’d need: tiny clothes, furniture, diapers, a stroller… you know the drill.
But then I brought my baby home from the hospital—exhausted, overwhelmed, and facing unexpected feeding challenges. I didn’t know who to ask for help, and I struggled far longer than I needed to.
When I became a Doula, I made it my mission to help families avoid that same experience. I want your transition to parenthood to be gentler, better supported, and more prepared—not just for the birth, but for the weeks that follow.
That’s why I dedicate an entire prenatal session to one essential topic: “What to Expect in the Postpartum Period.”
This session is personalized to each family, but we typically cover:
- Infant feeding (bottle, breast, combo—whatever works for you)
- What’s normal when it comes to newborn sleep and behavior
- Sleep strategies for parents (because yes, your rest matters too)
- Postpartum healing and the importance of real rest
- Nutrition and simple meal planning
- Household management when everything feels upside down
- How to involve family and friends (without losing your mind)
…and so much more.
To help with this, I created a Postpartum Planning Worksheet—a simple but powerful tool to start those important conversations before baby arrives. It’s especially for the ones thinking:
“We’ll figure it out once the baby is here.”
“My family will help.”
“I’m sure my partner will step up.”
Don’t leave it to chance. A little planning now can make a huge difference later.

Know someone who’s expecting? Do them a big favor and share this post. They may not realize it yet, but this is the kind of support that makes all the difference in those early weeks.
No need to thank me 😉
